In the film Schwartze and a Brief History of Mankind (2013), I am talking to historian, Yuval Noah Harari, about his best- selling book Sapiens. Hirschfeld takes the role of the minority (a black woman), emphasizing Harari’s position as white dominant male, mansplaining humanity as a species. As the two walk through the archeological archive of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, the film undermines the pretense to narrate mankind as one single story.
